1950 Frankoma Catalog
Frankoma used the new and expensive four color printing process here, a first for them. To be sure the 1949 catalog had a four color insert page, but 1950 was the first use of color in the catalog itself. Frankoma was a successful company now, and wanted to show it. Interestingly enough the new glaze sorghum brown is pictured on the cover but not specifically mentioned inside. The catalog notes frequently, however, the six available glazes as shown on the cover: prairie green, desert gold, onyx black, turquoise, red bud, and sorghum brown. Schaum, nonetheless, dates the introduction of sorghum to 1951.
